THATTA: Sindh Inspector General of Police Allah Dino Khawaja has said that the policing laws of 1861 need to be changed now, as these old policing laws were enacted by the British rulers to enslave the local people.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the first modern police reporting centre in That
ta, he said we are an independent nation as we should amend the police laws
to make citizen-friendly. “If we failed to facilitate our own people, history would not forgive us,” he added.
He sought a change in present policing culture and root out corruption from the police system. He said the depar
tment was determined to change the Thana culture and for this reason more police reporting centr
es would be opened in different cities and towns of Sindh.
He said overall 136 police reporting centr
es would be established in Sindh and out of them 50 in Hy
derabad alone. DIG Hy
derabad KhadimHussain Rind and others also spoke on the occasion.
