Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday demanded a parliamentary commission be formed to probe rigging allegations in the recently held general elections.
Reiterating allegations of rigging in the elections, the former Punjab chief minister said all the opposition parties want parliamentary inquiry on ‘rigging’.
He said the parliamentary commission should comprise members of all political parties. “The commission must investigate why the result transmission system (RTS) failed on last minute and why the poling agents were sent outside the polling stations during vote-counting,” added the PML-N president.
“Opposition will ask for an inquiry rather than extending congratulations in the first session of the National Assembly,” he stated.
Shehbaz said his party bagged more seats in Punjab, adding ‘everyone knows why we were not allowed to form government in the province’.
The National Assembly session is expected to be called on 13 or 14 August.
