BAHAWALPUR: A young boy was severely beaten and kept locked in a room for three days for stealing Rs 20 from his employer, a private TV channel reported.
Police recovered the young boy from captivity in Uch, some 73 kilometres from Bahawalpur city, when locals reported to have heard screaming voices coming from a locked room.
They told the rescue officers that the victim was harshly beaten and punished by the owner of a shop where he worked because he stole Rs 20 from the shopkeeper, the channel reported.
It said that the young boy was being given medical care and the police are continuing their investigation for the owner of the shop.
